In partnership with D-TAP we have adopted the UN Sustainable Development Goals of ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’ and ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ as our focal points.

 

Curacao does not have any natural sources of fresh water – all fresh water that is used on the island is desalinated and filtered sea water. One of our top priorities, therefore, is maintaining a sustainable water usage policy and monitoring system so as not to overburden the environment. For example, all water for irrigation of our garden comes directly out of 3 septic tanks, and consists exclusively of recycled waste water - filtered through an extensive natural filtering method.

 

On Curacao the recycling of waste is in its infancy. Chogogo Resort promotes recycling when possible. Our resort offers various waste collection points, and in the restaurant all aluminum cans, glass bottles and food waste is separated from the rest. All recycled waste is collected by local recycling companies and repurposed.

 

As Preferred Partner of the Month, in collaboration with D-TAP, our goal is to increase and improve awareness of water usage and recycling on the island, primarily among our guests and our staff. In doing so, we will start a Recycling Month in June, expanding our collection points and introducing a series of training programs for our staff. “
